The renowned singer of the 1970s and 1980s Olivia Newton-John passed away on Monday at her home in Southern California following a lengthy illness.

She played the virginal girl next door who transformed into a spandex-clad vixen in the hit movie musical "Grease," in which she also acted.

She's aged 73 years. Her husband, John Easterling, announced her passing.

She had a breast cancer diagnosis in 1992 and announced in 2017 that it had returned and spread to other parts of her body.

Her organisation was named in her honour, and she had always been passionate about funding cancer research.

John has released four albums featuring Ms. Newton that have sold over two million copies. Being around her was enjoyable, even admirable.
