In early morning raids on Thursday, around 100 PFI activists were detained or arrested by several agencies led by the NIA in approximately ten states for allegedly aiding terror operations in the country. Raids were conducted in the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and the national capital.

The investigative agency also detained PFI Chairman OMA Salam and Delhi PFI Chief Parvez Ahmed. These searches were carried out at the homes and offices of individuals involved in funding terrorism, organizing training camps, and radicalizing people to join proscribed organizations. On Thursday, the NIA conducted searches at 93 locations across 15 states against accused Popular Front of India (PFI) activists involved in terror-related activities, including fundraising. Raids were conducted in the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Assam, MP, Maharashtra, Goa, West Bengal, Bihar, and Manipur. On Thursday, the NIA detained 45 persons.

PFI activists in Delhi have been detained in NIA custody for four days.

All Delhi PFI activists apprehended during multi-agency searches in the city have been handed four days in the custody of the National Investigation Agency.

Strong security in place as PFI activists are brought before a Delhi court

As PFI activists are brought before Delhi’s Patiala House court, police have made security precautions. One of the suspects in court is PFI general secretary Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
